Our fourth stage of training begins with mounted work as 2-year-olds
and continues until the horses are sold. The horses are taught
to respnd to leg pressure and seat position. The trainer focuses
on teaching the horse to respond to light cues and collect at
the walk, trot and canter. Once the horse is performing consistently
under saddle, we take them through obstacle courses and out on
the streets. The horses are trained to advance over, under, and
through obstacles with exposure to traffic, bridges, creeks, trains,
crowds, and many other scenarios that could be encuntered on active
duty. We also teach our horses to ride in ranks and other cavalry
style drill formations.
